FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR DAISY THOMPSON. - Funeral services were 
held at 4 p. m. Monday afternoon in Opelousas' First Baptist church for Miss 
Daisy Thompson, 74, who died at 10:45 Sunday night in the residence of Rev. 
J. P. Brock. Dr. George Nichols, pastor of the church officiated.

Miss Thompson was born in Opelousas, May 17, 1876. All her life she made her 
home in the family residence on the corner of South and Main streets. A few 
weeks ago, because she was in poor health, she moved to the home of a 
cousin, Mrs. J. B. Brock, 402 West Bellevue.

Miss Thompson received her education at a private school operated by the 
laster Mrs. "Aunt Mag" Hayes. Later in life Miss Thompson was a sales lady. 
She worked as a clerk in various Opelousas stores and finally sold articles 
of her own house-to-house. Ill health forced her to retire from business 
about 10 years ago.

A member of the First Baptist church since childhood, Miss Thompson was also 
a charter member of Lorraine Chapter, No. 48, Order of the Eastern Star, and 
a member of the Women's Missionary Baptist Society.

Miss Thompson is survived by five cousins, Mr. Charles Thompson, Miss 
Virginia Thompson, Mr. W. f. (sic) Stewart, Mrs. George Bienvenu and Mrs. 
Brock, all of Opelousas; two nephews, Bradford Thompson of Pittsburg, Pa., 
and Arthur Thompson of Opelousas and a niece, Mrs. Frank Daly of Opelousas.

Burial was in Myrtle Grove cemetery under the direction of Lafond and Son 
Funeral home.
