Creamer marykcreamer@yahoo.com September 19, 2019, 4:18 pm source: Clarion-News (Opelousas, Louisiana) 09 Mar 1928, Friday, Page 1 AGED RESIDENT DIES SATURDAY. - Mrs. Addie Thompson, a resident of Opelousas since just after the close of the Civil War, died last Saturday after an illness that dates from the first of the present year. At the time of death she was in her 87th year. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church and interment was made in Myrtle Grove cemetery. The service was in Charge of Reverend S. O. Olivier, assisted by the Reverends J. M. Brock, and E. D. Solomon, corresponding secretary of the Louisiana Baptiste Convention. The Reverend Solomon made the funeral address. The service was concluded with the reading of the ritual of the Eastern Star, of which order Mrs. Thompson was a member. Mrs. Thompson was the widow of the late Charles Thmpson (sic). She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Summerlin and was born in Livingston, Ala. Surviving her are Miss Daisy Thompson, her only child, who lived with her mother; Mrs. J. T. Stewart, a sister and one brother, Lee Summerlin of Texas.
