E. VIDRINE SUCCUMBS TO ATTACK OF TYPHOID. Well Known Ville Platte Citizen Summoned to Meet His Maker at Fifty Years of Age. Was Clarion's Correspondent. It was with deep regret that the Clarion learned of the death of Edwin E. Vidrine, which occurred at Ville Platte, his home, on Wednesday evening, October 30, 1907, at 5 o'clock. We understand that Mr. Vidrine had been suffering for some days with an attack of typhoid fever, and his delicate constitution could not withstand the ravages of the disease. Some weeks ago he went to New Orleans to undergo treatment for throat troubles, which disease had amaciated him considerably, and when he returned and was attacked by the dread malady, physicians found it impossible to combat it successfully. Deceased was the oldest son of the late Yves Vidrine, prominent in business and political circles in this parish, and of Domelise Guillory. He was highly esteemed in the community, where he held several official positions, but where he had become best known as a notary public and auctioneer. He was the correspondent of the Clarion at that point, and for many years his newsy letters had appeared in this paper. In fact he was familiarly known in later years by his nom-de-plume of "Jake," which he used in corresponding for the Clarion, and there is a street in the town of Ville Platte named "Jake Street," in honor of the popular newspaper correspondent. To the bereaved family, the Clarion extends it s heartfelt sympathy. Additional Comments: NOTE: Edwin E. Vidrine is buried at the Old Ville Platte Cemetery located in Ville Platte, Evangeline Parish, LA. www.findagrave.com memorial # 83519772 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/stlandry/obits/v/vidrine5733gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
