(Opelousas, Louisiana) Saturday, April 16, 1910 Death of An Old Landmark. - With the passing into the other world of Olin Vidrine, St. Landry lost one ots old landmarks, as well as one of its best citizens. His demise occurred in Opelousss [sic], at 7 o'clock of April 2d, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 26 days. The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery here, after solemnization of the rites of that church. Mr. Vidrine was a native of St. Landry, and lived in this parish all of his life. Born at Chataignier Aug 6, 1830, he lived there for many years. He then resided at Ville Platte and Little Mamou, moving to Opelousas in 1903. During his life he had acquired a competence which made it possible for him to abstain from work in his latter years, this competence being attained by intelligent farming and hard work. He always had the reputation of being one of the best farmers in the parish. His first wife was Widow Simeon Fontenot, the mother of the late T. S. Fontenot. She died in 1869. His second wife was Mrs. Elise Naquin, widow of Andre Dardeau, and mother of Mrs. L. J. Dossmann. She survives him. Sterling honesty, a man whom his word was his bond, his life was an exemplary one.
