Died. - Of yellow fever, at his residence in Bayou Rouge Prairie, on Thursday 
morning, November 10th, Dr. TIMOTHY C. WARD, in the 50th year of his age.

Dr. Ward was born in Pennsylvania, June 22d, 1821, and emigrated to this state 
in 1846. He, for many years, practiced his profession in the vicinty of 
Moreauville, Avoyelles Parish, and established a reputation as a skillful 
physician and surgeon. He removed to Bayou Rouge Prarie in 1867, and afterwards 
devoted much of his attention to planting, in which he was successful. He 
encouraged immigration and the employment of white labor. He advocated and 
encouraged internal improvements and all other enterprises calculated to advance 
the interests of his adopted state.

He was a worthy and useful member of society, remarkable for his many virtues 
and distinguished for his many estimable qualities. His high and conscientious 
sense of duty and a close adherence to every principle of morality and truth 
obtained for him the confidence and esteem of all who shared his acquaintance. 
His cool, unbiased and impartial judgement and opinion commanded the highest 
respect and confidence of all; and he was often called upon to decide in matters 
of courtesy between friends; scrupously honest he despised every base act of 
trickery or fraud. As a mason he was worthy and esteemed, always ready and 
willing to contribute for the relief or support of the needy. He leaves a wife 
and six interesting children, and a wide circle of friends to mourn his untimely 
death. - A FRIEND.
