Another land-mark has passed away with the death of Mrs. Sarah J. Whatley, aged fifty-eight years. Mr. Whatley died near Poland, in Rapides Parish, on Oct. 8th, 1898. Deceased was born and raised near Bayou Chicot, where her entire life was spent except the current year. She leaves a large family and a larger circle of friends to mourn her demise. Her life was a succession of good deeds. Charity in its largest sense was her daily practice; and in the hereafter her good deeds here will redound to her happiness over there. May the sod of the valley rest light o're her breast. Farewell. A FRIEND. Bayou Chicot, La., Oct. 15, 1898.
