WHITE Died, at the family residence in Opelousas, last Tuesday morning, Nicholas L. White, aged 47 years, 3 months and 1 day. The funeral took place Wednesday morning and interment at the public cemetery with Masonic honors. The death of Mr. White came as a shock to his friends in this city and throughout St. Landry. He had been in ill health for a number of months but his demise was unexpected up to a few days before his passing. Coming to Opelousas some ten or a dozen years ago from his old home in West Virginia, he pursued here his occupation as an expert timber estimator. Always sober, industrious and reliable, he quickly won for himself a name and a reputation in his adopted home. Modest and unassuming, he went quietly about his affairs, but with all his modesty he was long ago recognized as a man of sterling worth. He leaves to mourn his passing a widow and a number of children, his oldest son Irl, being in France as one of Uncle Sam's soldiers. The deep sympathy of everyone in this city goes out to the widow and children in the hour of their bereavement. Additional Comments: Nicholas L. White is buried in the Myrtle Grove cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA. www.findagrave.com memorial # 142605183 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/stlandry/obits/w/white5544gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
