He was buried in the town of Opelousas La. on the 22nd of July 1863, with masonic honors. At a called meeting of the Humble Cottage Lodge No. 19 of Free and Accepted Masons, held at Opelousas on the 22nd July 1863, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted: Whereas it has pleased the Great Architect to call from our midst our much esteemed brother, THOMAS WILCOXSON, and to place him in that bright sphere of existence where the sorrows of this world are not known; - Therefore, Be it resolved, That the members of this Lodge deeply deplore the loss of our departed brother, remembering with pleasure and prido the many virtues that adorned his long and useful life, his chivalrons spirit, his kind and liberal heart, his universal benevolence, which taught him "to feel another's woe" and never refuse the claims of the poor or the broken hearted. In the social circle, in the midst of friends, around, the hearthstone, wherever he was found his noble soul irradiating its own exalted feelings and impulses spread life and joy around him; - And that we tender our sympathy to his family in their deep affliction and remind them that He who rules the Heavens and the Earth does all things weil, and they must receive the sorrow which He has sent them with resignation and fortitude. Resolved, that the members of this Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for the term of thirty days as a token of respect for our deceased brother. Resolved, That this resolution be spread upon our records, and copies be forwarded to the family of the deceased. Committee- P. D. Hardy, John Macdonald, P. Leonce Hebrard. By order of the W. M. E.
