William, business manager of the Baton Rouge Advocate, the official journal of the state, died in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, June 24, 1902, of heart disease. Mr. Williams is a native of Opelousas, and left here after he had attained manhood. He learned the printer's trade here. He has had charge of the business interests of the Advocate for a number of years, and ranked with the foremost newspaper men of the printer's trade here. He was a prominent citizen of the capital city, having held several positions of trust and honor, among them chief of the Fire Department. He is a brother of Mrs. Thos. H. Lewis, of our town, and of Archie Williams and the late Pintard D. Williams. Additional Comments: NOTE: Austin D.
