Victor Richard and Josephine Prevost, who declared that they did freely give voluntary consent to the marriage which is about to take place between their two children towit, Nicolas Ami the son of the said Josephine Prevost, and Eugenie Richard daughter of the said Jean Bte. Victor Richard--the said Josephine Prevost being the only surviving parent of the said Nicolas Ami, and they have, in testimony thereof, hereunto signed, with me, the said Judge, in presence of the subscribing witness, at Opelousas, the day and year above written. Jefferson Josphine Prevost widow X her mark of Gilbert Ami (Seal) Geo King Judge ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Know all men by these presents that Nicolas Ami and Jean Baptiste Victor Richard, the said Amie [sic] of the Parish of Saint Martin and Rich- ard of the Parish of Saint Landry, in the State of Louisiana, are held and firmly bound unto Henry Johnson Governor of the aforesaid State, and to the Governor his successors in office, in the sum of one thousand dollars, for the true and faithful payment whereof, they bind themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents.---In witness whereof they have hereunto signed and affixed their seals in the presence of the subscribing witness, at Opelousas, this fourteenth day of June Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twenty-six. The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Nicolas Ami has this day obtained a License to marry mademoiselle Eugenie Richard of the aforesaid Parish of Saint Landry-- Now if there should be or hereafter appear no legal im- pediment to the said marriage, then and in that case the above obligation be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue in Law.
