Debaillon Notary public in and for the parish of St. Landry county of Opeloussas [sic] and specialy [sic] appointed in and for that part of the aforesaid parish Situated West Ward of Bayou Grand Louis, personally appeared Lucile Deshautels Widow of Etienne Versure Fuselier deceased, who declared and does hereby declare her free and volontary [sic] consent to the marriage of her minor Daughter Josephine Fuselier with Cyprien Forest; and has in testimony thereof hereunto Signed by her ordinary mark; with me notary in the presence of the subscribing witnesses at Opelousas the Day and year above written. Debaillon Notary public Know all men by these presents, that Cyprien Forest and Eugene Ledoux of the State of Louisiana & Parish of St. Landry are held & firmly bound unto Thomas Boling Robertson Governor of the aforesaid State & to his successors in office in the sum of five hundred dollars for the true & faithful payment whereof they hereby bind themselves their heirs executors & administrators jointly & severally firmly by these presents-In Witness whereof they have hereunto Signed & affixed their seals at Opelousas this second day of September one thousand eight hundred & twenty four- Opelousas 2nd Sept. 1824- The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Cyprien Forest has this day obtained license to marry Josephine Fusilier-Now if there should be or hereafter appear no legal impediment to the said marriage, then & in that case the above obligation to be null & of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force & Virtue in Law- Witnesses James Ray Cyprien x Forest s/ Eugéne ledoux Source: St. Landry Parish Courthouse, Marriage Record Package #46, 1824.
