Austin Fontenot sprang quite a surprise on the community Wednesday, when it became known that on the evening previous he had taken unto himself a life's help-meet, in the person of Miss Lillian Lazaro, one of Carencro's accomplished daughters. Tho' he had intimated to his close friends lately that he had found his ideal and intended soon to cast away the lonesome bark of single cursedness and take voyage on the flower-strewn and honey-laden craft Love, it was not expected that his "soon' meant so 'soon". The wedding took place in the Catholic church at Carencro in the presence of parents and a few intimate friends, on Tuesday evening at six o'clock. The happy couple, and the party from here who had gone there, returned home that night. Those from Opelousas who accompanied Mr. Fontenot there were: Mr. and Mrs. Jos. L. Fontenot (father and mother of the groom), Mrs. L. Meginley, Messrs. Paul Lafleur, Felix Chachere, and Homer Ventre. The Clarion fervently wishes the young sailors a fair sea.
