Iler (widow of George Scott) 17 August 1853 Marriage Certificate: State of Louisiana, Parish of St. Landry Know all men by these present that I, John O'Quinn, a minister of the gospel duly qualifies to celebrate marriages, have on this the 17th day of August AD, 1853 united in the holy bonds of matrimony Mr. William O'Neal & Miss Margaret E. Iler (widow of George Scott) - the former of the Parish of Rapides, & the latter of St. Landry Parish, state of Louisiana - in presence of the undersigned witnesses of lawful age, citizens of the last named parish. In further testimony thereof have caused the parties with me hereunto to subscribe their names. Witnesses: William O'Neal H.W. Boyd Margaret E. Iler - X (her mark) __ __ Jackson M.H. MBride John O'Quinn Marriage Bond: Know all men by these present, that William O'Neal as principle of the Parish of Rapides and Henry W. Boyd as security of the Parish of St. Landry, are held and firmly bound unto Paul O. Hibert (sic), Governor of the state of Louisiana and to his successors in office The sum of three hundred dollars, which sum will & truly to be paid they bind themselves, their heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally --- In testimony whereof they have hereunto signed at Opelousas this 8th day of August A.D.1853- The condition of the above obligation is such that where of the above bound William O'Neal has this day obtained license to marry Miss Margaret E. Iler (widow of George Scott), of the Parish of St. Landry-now if there should hereafter appear no legal impediment to said marriage,then and in that case, the said obligation to be null & void.
