MARTINVILLE.--The subject of this sketch was born in St. Martin parish in 1856, and is the son of A. C. Gauthier, mentioned above. The subject of this sketch spent his youthful days in St. Martin parish. He received his education at St. Charles College. He has followed the same business in which his father was engaged, and is now a prosperous planter and stock raiser. His plantation, six miles northwest of St. Martinville, consists of three hundred and sixty-five acres of valuable land on the Teche. Mr. Gauthier is united in marriage with Miss Lucy Thimecourt Bienvenu. She is a native of St. Martin parish, and is the daughter of Thomas E. and Eliza (Potier) Thimecourt Bienvenu. Mr. and Mrs. Gauthier are the parents of seven children, viz.: Edgar A., Regina M., Lucy, Virginia E., Helen, Sydney, Cornillie. Mr. Gauthier and family are Catholics.
