MARTINVILLE.--Mr. Power was born in New Orleans in 1862. He is the son of Philip and Mathilda Power, both natives of New Orleans. Philip Power is in the tax and mortgage department at New Orleans. He is also clerk of the court in that city. The subject of our sketch was educated in the public schools of New Orleans, and was prepared to enter the graduating class when he left school to begin business. He began life as a merchant, in which business he has since been principally engaged. He now conducts a good mercantile business in St. Martinsville. Mr. Power was married in 1888 to Miss Louise Durand, daughter of O. J. and Felicie Durand. Mr. Power and wife are members of the Catholic church at St. Martinville.
