The following individuals came together to form a family meeting to decide the disposition of the estate of the late Simon LeBlanc: Joseph LeBlanc, Simon LeBlanc, Silvestre LeBlanc, Francois LeBlanc, Jean Comaux, Jean Boudreaux, Augustin Boudreau, Lufroy Boudreau, Agricole Come LeBlanc, Julien Barras, and Constance Louise Thibodaux, wife of the late Frederick LeBlanc. The family was of the opinion that the only equitable way to bring about a partition of the estate of Simon LeBlanc was to sell it at public auction. INVENTORY, August 19, 1816. Appraisers were Charles Potier and Michel Martin. Among the items inventoried were: a loom, appraised at $8; 2 old spinning wheels, $4. ANIMALS: 20 wild horses; 44 head of cattle; 2 milk cows. Joseph LeBlanc paid $298, the remainder of what he owed his father for a slave he purchased from him on September 6, 1814, for $700. Debts were owed by the estate to Dr. Duhamel and Father Isabey. Appraised value of estate: $920.50 SALE, August 29, 1816. Buyers were: Jean Comeaux (who purchased for $40 a pecanwood armoire appraised at $15), Francois LeBlanc, Jean Melancon, Joseph Babino, Etienne Bourgeois, Lufroy Boudrau, Joseph LeBlanc, Jean Pierre Doucet, Augustin Bijou, Julien Poirrier, Francois Potier, Michel Martin, Michel Dupuy, Silvestre LeBlanc, Joseph Babino, Sr., Charles Potier, Alexis Bertrand, Simon Leblanc, Jr., Francois Begnaud, Jacques Fabre, Jean Broussard, Antoine Artache, Xavier Benoit, Jean Commeau, Jean Carrie, Julien Commeau, Simon Picard, Alexander Wisse, Jean Langlinais. Sale grossed $ 1590.11. FAMILY MEETING, August 30, 1816. The heirs of Simon LeBlanc, namely, Joseph LeBlanc, Silvestre LeBlanc, Simon LeBlanc, Jr., Francois LeBlanc, Jean Comaux, Jean Broussard, Julien Bara, Jean Boudreau, Augustin Boudreau, and Lufroy Boudreau, assembled as a family meeting to inform Judge Briant that among Simon LeBlanc's possessions was an old slave woman named Therese. She was old and infirm and could no longer work and could not be sold; therefore, they agreed that they would each contribute to a fund for the welfare of the old woman. The fund, amounting to $110, would be given to Francois LeBlanc who would care for Therese for the remainder of her life.
