At fifteen minutes past four o'clock Wednesday evening the 29th of November, Mr. Martial Beinvenu died at his home in this town at the advanced age of 74 years. Mr. Bienvenu was a native of this town, and always lived a quiet life, and raised a family of twelve grown children who survive him. He was a veteran of the civil war. His funeral took place at four o'clock Thursday evening, and his remains were followed tot he grave by a large concourse of relatives and friends. ******************** 2nd. (Opelousas, La.) 1852-1910, December 09, 1905, Image 4 Mr. Martial Bienvenu, a native of this State and one of the most prominent and highly esteemed residents of St. Martinville, died at his home here Wednesday (Nov. 29th) at 4:15 o'clock p. m., aged 74 years. At the Catholic Church Father Royer conducted a most impressive service, briefly but eloquently set forth the eminent virtues of the departed. The reverend father paid just tribute to the memory of an honorable and useful citizen whose life and character possessed so many admirable traits. The funeral services took place Thursday evening at 4 o'clock and were attended by a large number of relatives, friends and acquaintances. -St. Martin Banner.
