Death is always sad, and the appearance of this great reaper and despoiler of happy homes is always dreaded, because it always leaves sadness and desolation, but sometimes the Angel of death comes to relieve a true christian from her earthly sufferings. Mrs. J. L. Ducrest, nee Cidalise Marguerite Voorhies, aged 54 years, died at four o'clock Tuesday morning the 26th inst. Mrs. Ducrest had been on a bed of suffering for several months, and she bore her painful sufferings as only a true christian can, she fully realized that the time had come for her to meet her Maker, she knew that death was near, but she had faith in her religion, and she was ready to render an account of a life well spent, she was a devout Catholic, a loving mother, a dutiful wife, a kind sister, and a good, faithful friend. Mrs. Ducrest leaves a husband and several grown children, Mrs. Dr. George de Laureal, Mrs. Dan W. Voorhies, Mrs. Charles Gauthier, Misses Marie Louise and Gabrielle and a son Lucien, and several brothers and sisters to mourn her death. The funeral took place at four o'clock Tuesday evening and was very largely attended.
