Little Marguerite Chauvin broke a bottle of Mumm's Champagne over the bow and christened the boat "Superior." A large crowd witnessed the launching and not a hitch came to mar the event. Mrs. J. J. Goldman presented the beautiful American flag which floated from the super-structure and Mr. Joe Phelps sent the champagne. The boat is owned by Mr. Bertrand Chauvin and was built under his personal supervision. It is 110 feet long and 26 foot beam and will have a net burden of 90 tons, and a large freight capacity. It is to be completed within the next thirty days, and it is a credit to the facilities for shipbuilding offered by Morgan City.
