BROWNING W. Browning Graham, a longtime Morgan City resident, died Oct. 29, 1999. He is survived by his wife" of 58 years, Mary, and his sons and their families. David and his wife, Linda, live in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Their children are Owen and Mary. Barry and his wife, Mary Jo live in Eagan, Minn. Their children are Taylor and Emily. Barry has two other sons, Michael and Matthew. Mr. Graham is also survived by his sisters, Helen Gilliland of Texarkana, Ark., and Elizabeth "Pinky" Mathews of Colville, Wash. Mr. Graham was born in Fayetteville, Ark., on June 9, 1909. He and his wife, Mary, were married Aug. 31, 1941. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Navy. At the conclusion of World War II, he returned to his employment with Gulf Oil Corporation. He and Mary moved to Morgan City with their sons in 1966 when Gulf Oil transferred him from Liberty, Texas, to Louisiana. He retired from Gulf Oil in 1974. Mr. Graham taught art for many years in New Orleans and Morgan City. A number of his students went on to become professional artists. Many of his and Mary's friendships developed through his art lessons. An active member of Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church, he served on the church's administrative board and as a 1aj-leader and Sund8y school ..teacher for the past 35 years. He was also an active member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over 50 years. He belonged to the Doric 205 Lodge in Morgan City, as well as the Alice Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. With his wonderful sense of humor and his love for friends and family, Mr. Graham will be missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be made to Pharr Chapel Methodist Church. Visitation was held from 1:30 p.m. to. 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pharr Chapel Methodist Church. After services at 3 p.m., he was buried in the Morgan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Twin City Funeral Home of Morgan City. ===========================================================================
