Roberta J. Brown, 77, a resident and native of Morgan City, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at 10:25 p.m., at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mrs. Brown was a faithful member of Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church, vice president of NAACP, a member of the Community Action Board, a member of the Morgan City Archive, a member of the Ester Grand Chapter #19 and a very active person throughout the parish, city and state and active in St. Mary Parish Head Start and the school system. She is survived by four sons, Melvin Brown, Charles I. Brown, both of Morgan City, Herbert Brown of Houma and Anthony Brown of St. Martinville; five daughters, Joetta Hebert and Carolyn Long, both of Morgan City, Lydia Vernon of Baton Rouge, Janita Randle of Aransas Pass, Texas and Annie Wilson of Spring, Texas; three brothers, Herbert Jones, Clarence Jones and Charles Jones, all of Morgan City; three sisters, Geraldine Morse, Myrtle Jones and Edwina Jones, all of Morgan City; 31 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law; five godchildren; a loving friend of many years; a sergate son; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one brother, three nieces, one nephew and a brother-inlaw. Visitations will be observed Sunday, Sept. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Lee Chapel and again on Monday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Siracusaville Recreation Center. Funeral rites will be held Monday, at 11 a.m., at the center. Interment will follow in the Union Bethel Cemetery in Amelia. The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements. ===================
