Funeral services will be held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Phyllis L. Caffery, 81, who died July 4, 2007 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette. The Very Reverend J. Douglas Courville, JCL, Pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Internment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Lafayette. Mrs. Caffery, the former Phyllis Marie LeBlanc, was the daughter of the late Oliver Harris LeBlanc and Marie Fay Leblanc. She was born in Galveston, Texas and grew up in Franklin, Louisiana. She was a resident of Lafayette for over 40 years. Mrs. Caffery was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute. She held degrees in English Education and Library Science. She served as librarian at Duson Elementary for many years. After retirement, she was a frequent humorous columnist for the Les Bon Jours Newspaper. Survivors include her two daughters, Sheila Stagg of Lafayette, and Beth Aron of Westlake; one son, Don Caffery of Baton Rouge; one sonin- law, William Stagg; and daughter-in-law, Jo Lynn Caffery; one brother, Oliver LeBlanc of Davis, California; Her grandchildren include Marie Gould of Columbus, Ohio, Philip Stagg of Baton Rouge, Megan Stagg of Richmond, Virginia, Julie, Joey, Joshua, Jacob and Jacqueline Aron of Westlake, Ralph and Mary Caffery of Baton Rouge; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, D. Ralph Caffery; and one grandson, David Brett Stagg. Pallbearers will be Joey Aron, Joshua Aron, Jacob Aron, Ralph Caffery, Philip Stagg and Ken Gould. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
