"Shop" Charpentier, 64, at 2 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2007 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Salvino (Rueben) Primer was the celebrant. Interment followed in Beau Pre Cemetery. Visiting hours were held on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., with the rosary held at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home reopened Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services. A native of Baldwin and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Charpentier passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at Iberia Medical Center with his family at his side. Mr. Charpentier was a lifelong welder and pipefitter and worked with McDermott and Red Fox. He was very proud to have served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era. "Shop," as he was known by family and friends, was a member of the VFW Post 1982, American Legion Post 335 and a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He had a love of sports and was LSU's # 1 fan. He was a devoted husband, father, grand and great grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Claudette Perry Charpentier of New Iberia; his children, Paul Charpentier of Lodi, CA, Lori Boutte and Errol Bonin, both of Jacksonville, FL, and Norbert Bonin of St. Martinville; eight grandchildren, Spencer, Sutton and Sawyer Charpentier, Wendy Brown, Lauren, Amanda, Robert and Joshua Bonin; one great granddaughter, Alyssa Brown; a brother, Eddie Charpentier of Franklin; four sisters, Dorothy Martin of Morgan City, Mabel Alleman of Franklin, Clara Landry of Baldwin and Cecile Charpentier of New Iberia; and a sisterin- law, Barbara Charpentier of Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Bonin Jr.; parents, Lucien Charpentier and Jeanette Gauthier Charpentier; and a brother, Jerry Charpentier. Pallbearers will be Errol, Norbert and Cornell Bonin, Frank French, Raymond Boutte and Philbert Landry. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul, Spencer, Sutton, Sawyer and Eddie Charpentier, Joshua Bonin, Al Bergeron and Jonathan Brown. Evangeline Funeral Homes, 314 East Saint Peter St., New Iberia (337) 364-1881 was in charge of arrangements. ===================
