Emma Dell lived with her mother and father and her seven older brothers and sisters until she was seven months old. Several years later because of her aunt's health problems, she moved to her grandparents, Pierre and Philomane B. Barrilleaux's home. She remained until her marriage to Lester "Jimmy" Falterman, a marriage that lasted over 60 years, until his death in 1996. Their romance began in fifth grade and lasted three quarters of a century. Emma Dell and Jimmy were married 20 years before they had their first and only child, Jimmy Gerard Falterman. They were to have him for only four years, when the Lord needed him in Heaven. His death was very hard for them to accept, but getting strength from each other, they went on with life, busying themselves with the many things they liked to do - fishing, hunting, dancing, working, community and church activities. After little Jim's death, Emma Dell added other things to her already busy life. One thing in particular was her teaching first grade for Assumption School of Religion, a treasured activity that lasted for 28 years. She was also a recipient of the Bishop's Service Medal. Emma Dell and Jimmy belonged to and participated in many community and church functions. Together they were in AARP, Franklin Golden Age Club, Krewe of Teche, Center of Hope. In the Center of Hope they became benefactors in their son, Little Jim's memory. Emma Dell was also a member of Assumption's Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Emma Dell was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, her son, Little Jim, her parents, Ernest and Odele R. Barrilleaux, her four brothers, Pierre, Evans, Sidney and Clifford; three sisters, Isobel McCreary, Beulah Businelle and Amy Geiling. She leaves to miss her, a nephew and Godson, Donald Robicheaux, whose devotion and love for her was an inspiration to others. Donald's daughter, Abby Martin, her husband Eddie, their sons, Clint and Justin were a great part of her life and they loved her dearly. Jimmy's nieces and nephews, Marian Melancon, James Melancon, Mary Lois Hebert, Harvey Charpentier, Leonard Olivier Jr., J.C. Olivier and all their children. They all loved Aunt Emma Dell, she was always included in their family gatherings and celebrations. Visiting Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Emma Dell was always a joyful and looked forward to occasion. Emma Dell died at 6:20 p.m. March 11, 2007 at Franklin Foundation Hospital one day after her 97th birthday. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a Rosary at 1:30 p.m. A Mass will begin at 2 p.m. at the Church of Assumption, with Fr. Michael Russo officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin. ===================
