Roland J. "Doc" Granger, 81, a native of Cypremort Point and a resident of Franklin, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at 1 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Mr. Granger is survived by five sons, Barry Granger of Franklin, Rodney Granger and his wife, Carmen, of Jeanerette, Roland Chris Granger and his companion, Laurie Savoie, of New Iberia, Edler Broussard and his wife, Jeanie, of Sorrell and David Broussard of Franklin; three daughters, Gwendolyn Ruggley and her husband, Vic Quimby, of Alexandria, Elizabeth Simoneaux and her husband, Dallas, of Baldwin and Susanne LeBlanc and her husband, Lloyd, of New Iberia; one brother, Alex Granger of Franklin; one sister, Stella Landry of Jeanerette; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Electa Guilbeau Granger; his parents, Joseph "Jeff" Granger and Amita Patin Granger; three brothers, Anthony, Carroll and Nolan Granger; and one sister, Inez Domingue. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary, with a rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. The mortuary will reopen Thursday, at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m., at Ibert's with Fr. Thomas Vu officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard, with Deacon Rickey Picard officiating. Pallbearers will be Roland Chris Granger, Rodney Granger, Barry Granger, Edler Broussard, Alex LeBlanc, Wyatt Simoneaux, Timothy Scott LeBlanc, David Leblanc and Aaron Granger. Mr. Roland was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. Military honors, conducted by the United States Navy, will be held in the cemetery. The family would like to extend their heart-felt appreciation to the staff of the Franklin Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to Mr. Roland and Mrs. Electa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin. ===================
