Joyce Verdun Ireland was born on July 14, 1926 to the late Robert "Man" Verdun and Lillian St. Julien Verdun of Verdunville. She was reared in Verdunville until her marriage to Joseph Ireland Jr. of Franklin in 1946 where she remained for over 60 years. She departed this life on November 14, 2007, at 9:30 a.m., at the residence of her daughter in Franklin following a lengthy illness. She was baptized and raised Catholic in the Immaculate Conception/St. Jules Parishes of Verdunville and Franklin. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin to the entire Verdun and Ireland families. Joyce was a member of Jackson Henry 10016 Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. To cherish her fond memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Darrell Perry of Franklin; two grandsons, Julian and Darion Perry, both of Franklin; two sisters, Joycia Paul of Verdunville and Delores Bowers of Franklin; one brother, Joseph Verdun of Patterson; one brother-in-law, Murphy Sr. and his wife, Flora Ireland, of Franklin; a dedicated caregiver, Jeanette Burgess of Charenton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters, Orelia Verdun, Mary Moseley and Borita Verdun; and two brothers, Jimmy and Malcolm Verdun. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 17, from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m., at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Interment will follow in the St. Jules Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Franklin is in charge of arrangements. ===================
