"Dickie" Mire, 84, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Napoleonville, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at his residence. Dickie was a route salesman for La Fleur's Dairy of Morgan City and, later, Flowers Bakery of Lafayette. Dickie was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City. Dickie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera Lee Dupre Mire; one son, Michael Mire and his wife, June Mayon Mire, of Morgan City; one daughter, Marilyn Mire Gautreaux and her husband, Sen. Butch Gautreaux, of Morgan City; one brother, Earl Mire and his wife, Jennie, of Morgan City; one sister, Phyllis Gorsha and her husband, Bonnie, of Alexandria; four grandchildren, Michael Gautreaux, Lisa Mire Robicheaux, Lee Gautreaux and Michael J. Mire Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren. Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Mire and Elodie Blanchard; three brothers, Fulton Mire, Leroy Mire and Dudley Mire; one son, Dickie S. Mire; and one great-grandchild, Ryan Robicheaux. A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City from 8 a.m. to noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at noon with Father H.J. Adams and Father Danny Poche officiating. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery. The East St. Mary Funeral Squad will conduct graveside services with full military honors. Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements. ===================
