He was born February 8, 1929 on Maryland Plantation to Wilfred and Mary Ellen Peltier. He married the love of his life, Lova Shields Peltier, of Dolores, Colorado on June 4, 1952. After serving his country for four years, he returned home to Bayou Sale to begin his career in the oilfield. He remained working in the oilfield for 54 years until his retirement in 2006. He and his wife, Lova, spent many wonderful years fishing and gardening at their home, Ellerslie Plantation in Bayou Sale. Huey was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Patterson. He was a very kind and generous person who loved helping people and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Lova; three daughters, Lori Peltier Jenkins and her husband, Adrian, of Denham Springs; Denise Peltier Gautreau and her husband, Ernie, of Walker; and Melissa Peltier of Baton Rouge; one son, Barry Peltier and his wife, Carolyn, of Centerville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Miriam P. Firmin of Centerville; and two brothers, Wilfred and Godfrey Peltier, both of Bayou Sale. Huey was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Mary Ellen Peltier; three sisters, Mary Ellen P. Foreman, Emmadel P. Levet and Elizabeth P. Duncan Foreman; and two grandsons, Dickie and Don Jenkins. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday, May 11, at Ibert's in Franklin from 10 a.m. until time of services. A funeral service honoring Huey's life will be celebrated on Friday, at 2 p.m., at Ibert's, with the Reverend Marty Harden officiating the services. Burial will follow in the family cemetery, Ellerslie Cemetery, located in Bayou Sale. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and special friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful hospice caregivers at Acadiana Hospice and Franklin Homecare for making the last days of Huey's life comfortable, also a special thanks to Bryan Bienvenu, M.D. of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
