Mrs. Eliska Prosper Decuir Rice, 100, a native of Loreauville and a resident of Franklin for the past 64 years, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at her residence. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at 9 a.m., until time of services at the Church of the Assumption with a rosary being prayed at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Mrs. Rice is survived by two sons, Emick Bernard Decuir and his wife, Louise, of Galliano and Joseph Murphy Decuir of Beaumont, Texas; four daughters, Doris Decuir Giroir of Franklin; Peggy Decuir Borel and her husband, Emile, of South Carolina; Wilda Decuir Cali and her husband, Frank, of Patterson; and Mildred Decuir Thibodeaux of Lydia; 26 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 24 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emile Jack Decuir; her second husband, Gerald Rice; her father, Leonce Prosper; her mother, Cecile Granger Prosper; one son, Martin Guy Decuir; two daughters, Dorothy Decuir Robicheaux and Regina Decuir Prevost; three brothers, Soule Prosper, Adeluce Prosper and Lawrence Prosper; and two sisters, Rosa Prosper Broussard and Lourance Prosper Banas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary of Franklin. ===================
