Mr. Jules Spain Sr., 92, a resident of Franklin and native of Oaklawn, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at 2:10 a.m., at his residence following a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Williams Spain of Franklin; four sons, Ivory and his wife, Leavine Spain, of Jeanerette; Lloyd and his wife, Mary Spain, Alvin and his wife, Iris Spain, and Earl Spain, all of Franklin; four stepsons, James Lewis of Seattle, Washington, Terry Lewis of Franklin, Ronnie Lewis of Lafayette and Larry Lewis of El Paso, Texas; four daughters, Lucille Mitchell and her husband, Ronald, Virginia Cross and Gloria Milton, all of Franklin, and Marjorie Spain of Lafayette; four stepdaughters, Gracie Spain of Beaumont, Texas, Glenda Otis and Jo Ann Lee of Seattle and Hollis Lewis of Franklin; 60 grandchildren; 124 great grandchildren; and 30 great great grandchildren. Mr. Spain was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one daughter, two sisters and six brothers. Visitations will be observed Friday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin. Burial rites will be read Friday, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Little Zion Cemetery in Verdunville. Otis Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin is in charge of preparations. ===================
