Hazel Guidry Trahan, 91, a native of Lafayette and a resident of Baldwin since 1951, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at 8:45 a.m., at her residence following a brief illness. Mrs. Hazel is survived by one son, Byron Trahan and his wife, Dollie, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one daughter, Charlene T. Guillotte of Baldwin; one brother, Albert Guidry of Carencro; two sisters, Hilda Hebert of Kaplan and Ethel Newsom of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Blaine Guillotte, Ann T. Reno and Jo Ann Trahan; and one great grandchild, Darrian Kounlavong. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Trahan; her mother, Alma Stutes Guidry; her father, Mayo Guidry; her stepmother, Amedia Trahan Guidry; and one great grandchild, Belle Kounlavong. Visiting hours were observed today, Sept. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin, with the rosary being prayed at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial was held today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart, with Father Gregory Cormier officiating. Interment followed in the Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette, with graveside services conducted by Deacon Harry Darce. Mrs. Hazel was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She served her church for many, many years by faithfully opening the church for Masses and services of all kinds, as well as tending to the Altar linens, Altar candles and straightening up the church before and after services. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of Sacred Heart and an honorary member of the St. Mary Center of Hope. In Sept. 2003, she received the Devoted Service Award from the Diocese of Lafayette. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, ===================
