All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= WINSTON, DORINA Dorina Winston, 84, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007 surrounded by her family and friends in the comfort of her home where she lived for 61 years. With the support of her loving husband, Howard, Dorina courageously faced the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband, Howard Winston, of Franklin; her five children, Faye Luke of Nederland, TX, Peggy Guidry of Centerville, Bonnie Arton of New Orleans, Cindy Thibodaux of Kennesaw, GA and Kenneth Arton of New Iberia; her stepdaughters, Angela Winston of Franklin and Darlene Lafleur of Tulsa, OK; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Guidry; her parents; and her first husband, John Arton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, May 1st, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen Tuesday at 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Assumption, with Fr. Lloyd Benoit officiating the mass. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Dorina was born January 7, 1923 to Edna and John Fouquier. She married John Arton on August 31, 1940. Their 35 year marriage was blessed with five children. Following the loss of her first husband to a long term illness, she was blessed to meet and marry Howard Winston on June 24th, 1978. During their 28 years together they shared a love of music and dancing. They could often be heard singing a duet. Dorina was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary. She also served as past officer for 11 years for the Golden Age Club. The family would like to thank Linda Baker and Darlene Dupre for her devotion and care as well as the staff of Journey Hospice, Mary Beth Pillaro and Ellenor Washington for their compassion and support with the final care of Dorina.
