Deacon Edward Joseph Bodin Jr., 72, a native of and lifelong resident of Franklin, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at 9:55 a.m., at his home. Deacon Ed is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Mary Grace "Micki" Gorman Bodin of Franklin; his son, Edward Joseph Bodin III and his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Krishen, both of Crowley; his two daughters, Bridget B. Blood and her husband, Ricky, both of Centerville, and Monica B. Sullivan and her husband, Roger, both of Franklin; his two brothers, Howard Bodin and his wife, Sue, and Michael Bodin and his wife, Elodie, all of Franklin; his sister, Audrey Minor and her husband, Gerald, both of Baldwin; his eight grandchildren, Coty Bergeron, Derik Sullivan, Eddie Bodin IV, Jessica Hebert, Cassi Sullivan, Mary "Gracie" Bodin, Luke Bodin and Kavita Rose Bodin/Krishen; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Joseph Bodin Sr.; his mother, Emily Hebert Bodin; and his infant daughter, Benita Bodin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jules Church on Tuesday, at 2 p.m., with burial following in the Franklin Cemetery. Bishop Michael Jarrell, Father Bill Crumley, Father Thomas Vu and Father Billy Ruskoski, all will be celebrating the services. Pallbearers will be Coty Bergeron, Derik Sullivan, Eddie Bodin IV, Luke Bodin, Michael Bodin Jr., Frankie Gorman, Brandon Gorman and Michael Gorman. Deacon Ed Bodin worked 34 years for Texaco, he was a professional musician and loved playing the steel guitar. He was a member of the Teche C.B. Club, having the handle of Steel Guitar. He was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was ordained as a Deacon in 1993. He loved serving his community any time he was called. Most of all, he loved his family and loved sharing life with them. Raymond Lamond Brown Sr., 80, a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed from this life on Friday, December 5, 2008. Raymond was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother; one sister; one son; and his first born daughter. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Celine Marie Shello Brown; and a living legacy of 12 children: Raymond L. Brown Jr. (Joyce), Paula Boutte (Samuel), Tena Trimm (Edward), Anthony Brown Sr., (Michelle), David R. Brown Sr., (Ernestine), Monica F. Carter, (Isaac), Edwin Brown, Marva B. Stewart, (Roy), Fr. Arrangements are entrusted to Jones Funeral Home. ============================= 7 Dec 2008 Submitted by Alex Pecot Source: The Franklin Banner Tribune ROCK, NICOLE ANN Nicole Ann Rock, 36, a resident of Franklin and native of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, after a six-year battle with cancer that she so valiantly fought. Nicole was born Aug. 4, 1972, to Ross and Patricia Rock. Nicole attended Morgan City High School. She was an awesome, fun-loving person with a great personality who had many friends. Anyone that would meet her would fall in love with her immediately. Nicole loved painting, writing short stories and award-winning poetry. Her interest in writing began at an early age. When she was 8 years old, she started a neighborhood newsletter she called "The Lakeside Journal." Most of you will remember her from Tampico's, where she worked for 15 years. Her love for people and life gave her a vision to encourage others. "A Message in a Bottle" became a passion for her in her fight against cancer. She decorated bottles and put inspirational, handwritten messages in them, which were delivered to cancer patients at hospitals and doctors' offices. She planned to write a handbook that could help people with what she was going through. Her courage was recognized by People magazine and the Northwest Arkansas Times. Nicole loved her six beautiful children and her family and friends. "Thank you, God, for always going Before me and Behind me. I know that I am safe in your presence!" Isaiah 52:12 Nicole is survived by six beautiful children, Destiny Lynn Theriot, Victoria Aerial Nicole Theriot, Jade Brooke Theriot, Wyatt Neil Young, Dakota Sue Young and Lauryn Ann Freeman; her fiancˇe, Chris Michael Freeman; her parents, Ross Paul and Patricia Billiot Rock; her sister, Brandy Pennison and her husband, Bruce; a nephew, Bruce Andrew Pennison; a niece, Madison Nicole Pennison; and her grandparents, Anthony and Helen Grandin Billiot. JAY Viley J. "Jay" Chauvin III, 60, a native of Franklin and a resident of Baldwin, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 in Franklin. Mr. Chauvin was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, a member of Ducks Unlimited, an avid fisherman and hunter, was a field agent for the Knights of Columbus Insurance Program, was a business owner in Baldwin for the past 27 years, and on Sundays you could always find him in the boat. But most of all he loved his time with his family and friends. The Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Charles C. Watkins officiating. Visitations will continue Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the funeral at 11 a.m., at the St. Jules Catholic Church, 601 Magnolia St., Franklin, with Father Thomas Vu, pastor, officiating. Darryl Lynn Dupas was born on Nov. 7, 1961 in Franklin, to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Peter Dupas Sr. and Shirley Jack Dupas. Darryl was the seventh child of 14 siblings. Darryl departed this life and went home to our Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008. Darryl was baptized at an early age at St. Jules Catholic Church by Fr. Frank Encovich and remained faithful to his faith and church. Darryl attended school in St. Mary Parish and graduated in May of 1981 from Franklin where he was a drum major in high school. He also attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, majoring in music education. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Darryl was employed at Teche Action Clinic for 17 years as a faithful servant to the people of St. Mary Parish and was loved by all. Darryl was trained by Dr. Gary Wiltz to do X-rays and other technological work and served as a bus driver. Upon his departure from Teche Action Clinic, he was employed by National Wheel- O-Vator, making handicapped elevators helping God's people all over the world. Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Peter Dupas Sr., and Mrs. Shirley Jack Dupas; and one beloved sister, Dianne Dupas. He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Mrs. Patricia Dupas Mitchell II (Wilfred) of Baldwin; Ms. Alice Dupas and Sharon Marie Dupas of Alexandria; Sergeant 1st Class (Retired) Gaston Peter Dupas Jr. (Angie Dominique) of New Iberia; Mrs. Faye Dupas (Rev.
