Mrs. Betty Darcey Fontenot, 78, a native of Franklin, a former resident of 
Carencro, and a resident of New Iberia died, Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:30 
p.m. at the Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia.

Mrs. Betty is survived by two sons, Michael Landry and his wife, Carla, of 
Indianapolis, IN. and Robert "Bobby" Landry Jr. and is wife, Ramona, of Sulfur; 
one daughter, Patti Landry Monceaux and her husband, Rickey, of New Iberia; six 
grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Fontenot; her father, 
Emilien Darcey and her mother, Felicia Borel Darcey.

A Memorial Graveside service for Mrs. Betty will be held on Tuesday, February 
23, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Franklin Cemetery. Rev. Francis Daunt of St. Mary's 
Episcopal Church will officiate the services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin, 
Louisiana 70392.

Milton "Ray" Carlton, 73, a native of Crockett, Texas and a lifelong resident of 
Franklin, died January 29, 2010, at 12:22 a.m., at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Carlton is survived by his wife, Margaret LeBlanc Carlton; one son, Kevin R. 
Carlton of Houma; two daughters, Leslie C. Loucks and her husband, Tom, both of 
Flippin, Arkansas, and Rebecca C. Causer of Mountain Home, Arkansas; two 
sisters, Cindy Engles and her husband, Allen, both of Crockett, Texas, and 
Dorothy Nell Carlton of Commerce, Texas; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Snide Carlton and Reba Gates Carlton; 
four brothers, Leland, Clayton, Ivy Lee and Benny Wayne Carlton; and one 
granddaughter, Lori Comeaux.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed Sunday, Jan. 31 at Ibert's, 
from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Funeral services for Ray began at 12 noon Sunday at Ibert's, with Father Benoit 
officiating the services. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

DIXON, THEO ADELE KRAMER 

Graveside services for Theo Adele Kramer Dixon of Monroe were held Thursday, 
January 28, 2010 at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, with the Rev. Canon Gregg 
Riley of Grace Episcopal Church officiating.

She faced live with courage, conviction, joy, excitement and a sense of humor. 
God gave her the miracle of personality. She was born June 4, 1927 in Shreveport 
and grew up in Franklin.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Foster 
Kramer; and her husband, Joe Hart Dixon.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Frere 
Kramer of Franklin; two sons, Joe Hart Dixon Jr. and wife, Kay Matkins, and 
Thomas Kramer Dixon of Monroe; one daughter, Adele Buntin and husband, David W., 
of Nashville; and nine grandchildren, Katherine Frere Dixon Sandifer, Caroline 
Carter Dixon Carpenter, Clair Kramer Dixon, Joe Hart Dixon III, Anna Elizabeth 
Marsh Dixon, Melissa Doll Dixon Langley, Jessica Buntin Smith, Jesh Buntin and 
Jonathan Buntin. She is also survived by one niece, Adriane Kramer Evans of 
Franklin.

Mrs. Dixon was a "Cradle" Episcopalian; graduate of Louisiana State University 
and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She trained as a Lab Tech at Charity Hospital 
in New Orleans.

Mrs. Dixon was very active in the civic and social life of Monroe. She served on 
the board of the Masur Museum of Art and the board of United Way and was a 
volunteer of St. Francis Hospital and the St. Joseph Home. She was a member of 
the Monroe Garden Club, the Monroe Garden Study League, the Junior Charity 
League, the English Speaking Union, the Junior Study Book Club, the Episcopal 
Daughters of the King, the Colonial Dames of America, the Daughters of the 
American Revolution, the First Families of Mississippi and Kappa Kappa Gamma 
Alumnae.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington 
Road, in Monroe.

Faith Chauvin Mancuso, a native of Berwick, La., died in Lafayette, La., on 
Friday, Jan. 29, 2010.

Mrs. Mancuso loved playing cards, sewing, cooking, gardening and the outdoors.

She is survived by sons, Nick (Susan), Bart (Monica) and Vincent (Trish) Mancuso 
Jr.; daughters, Gina (Mark) Campo and Fran Mancuso; brother, Lyle Chauvin; 
sisters, Gloria Nini and Lana Hood; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-
grandchildren; and a very special friend, Yvonne Rosado.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gildon Sr. and Maggie Fabre Chauvin; 
husband, Vincent Mancuso Sr.; granddaughter, Allison Campo McKay; and brothers, 
Gildon and Clayton Chauvin.

She is buried at Morgan City Mausoleum.

Merideth, better know as "Aunt Merris" or "Mary," 100, a native of Bayou 
Sheaffer, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died surrounded by family 
Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010.

Mrs. Rink's passion was gardening.

She is survived by her children, Helen Toups, James Rink, Betty (Donald) 
Romaire, Donald, Wayne (Ellen) and Warren (Kay) Rink; 12 grandchildren; and five 
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Alcide Rink; parents, 
James and Safruni Moore; son-in-law, Lewis Toups; great-granddaughter, Ali Rose 
Aucoin; two brothers; and five sisters.

She is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.

Darrell J. Uze', 78, a native of Louisa and a long time resident of Franklin, 
died Friday, January 29, 2010, at 6:08 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

Mr. Uze' is survived by his daughter, LeeAnne Uze' Bruce and her husband, 
Stephen, both of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Elyssa, Justillian and Dylan 
Bruce, all of Abbeville; and one brother, Lionel Uze' and his wife, Willie, both 
of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Romero Uze'; his parents, Andrew R. 
Uze' and Mable Miguez; and one sister, Dianne Uze' Schexnayder.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed Sunday, Jan. 31, from 6 
p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert's, with a 7 p.m. Rosary. Visitation continued Monday, 
Feb. 1, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Ibert's.

A Mass of Christian burial began at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Assumption, 
with Father Benoit officiating. Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery.

Marguerite Christine See West, 83, a loving wife, mother and sister, passed away 
January 30, 2010, at 11:25 p.m., at her residence in Houston, Texas.

Marguerite was born December 6, 1926 in Franklin. In her early years she taught 
at Shannon Elementary School in Morgan City for eight years. After marrying her 
husband, Gene, they moved from Louisiana.

Mrs. West is survived by her husband of 54 years, David E. "Gene" West of 
Houston; one son, David Willis West of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Gretchen 
Christine West of Dallas; one sister, Marion Harris of Franklin; a cousin, 
Winnie Champagne of Franklin; two nieces, Anne Harris Wallace of Atlanta, 
Georgia and Willis Kingston Boroto of New Iberia; one nephew, Howard See 
Kingston; and numerous other cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Leroy See; her mother, Bertha 
Christine Anderson; and one sister, Wilma Kingston.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, February 3 at the 
First United Methodist Church in Franklin, from 11 a.m. until time of service. 
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Franklin 
Cemetery. The Rev. Sue Pugh will officiate the services.

Sterling P. "Buster" Charpentier Jr., 84, a native and lifelong resident of 
Franklin, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 12:50 a.m., at Franklin 
Foundation Hospital.

Mr. Charpentier was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran 
of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the Asiatic-
Pacific Campaign and received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze 
Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct 
Medal, Purple Heart Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. 

Later in life he went on to work for Shell Oil. After 33 years of dedicated 
service, he retired from Shell Oil in 1986. 

He enjoyed his morning visits with friends at McDonald's. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. McPherson, Dr. 
Tessi and the staff of Franklin Foundation Hospital for the loving care given to 
Mr. Buster.

He is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Dorothy "Dot" Bourque Charpentier of 
Franklin; two sons, Sterling P. Charpentier III and his wife, Shirley, of 
Franklin, and Ashby A. Charpentier and his wife, Pattie, of New Iberia; two 
daughters, Sharon C. Becnel of Lafayette and Sheila C. Lowry and her husband, 
Al, of Lafayette; one sister, Mary C. Jones of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, Libby 
C. Sullivan, Sterling "Petey" Charpentier IV, Larry Charpentier, Angela C. Gary, 
Scott Michael Charpentier, Tara Rose Charpentier, Shannon B. Trahan, Nicole B. 
Deslatte, Amanda L. Broussard, Travis John Lowry and Lauren Anne Lowry; 16 great 
grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Charpentier was preceded in death by his father, Sterling P. Charpentier 
Sr.; his mother, Rose Ferrero Charpentier; one brother, W.J. Charpentier; two 
sisters, Vivian C. Stephens and an infant sister; and one son-in-law, Mike 
Becnel.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday, February 4, at 
Ibert's Mortuary, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7 
p.m. Visiting will resume Friday at Ibert's from 9 a.m. until dismissal at 10:30 
a.m.

Mr. Andrew Tate, 93, a resident and native of Franklin, died Tuesday, January 
26, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., at his residence following a short illness.

He is survived by two sons, Frank Tate and Donald R. Oliver of Franklin; two 
daughters, Lucy Mae Boatman of Port Arthur, Texas and Shelia Oliver of Franklin; 
two sisters, Daisy Francis of Franklin and Maggie Howard of New Iberia; a host 
of grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and a host of great great 
grandchildren.

Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters and two sons.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the 
Triumph Baptist Church in Franklin.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with the Rev. 
Clarence Stewart Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Oddfellow 
Cemetery in Franklin.

NOTTO, FRANK, JR.

SAVANNAH - Mr. Frank Notto Jr. entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 
at Candler Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., at Resurrection of 
Our Lord Catholic Church, with Father Robert E. Chaney officiating. Interment 
will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Notto was born in Manila, Philippines on December 25, 1947 to the late Mr. 
Frank and Mercedes Notto Sr., at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Frank 
attended Park Avenue High School in Franklin. He attended the University of 
Southwestern Louisiana College in Lafayette.

Frank joined the Catholic Church at an early age in Glencoe; there he met the 
love of his wife, Brenda Shavers Notto. They were married 37 years. From this 
union they were blessed with two beautiful sons. He moved to Savannah as a young 
man. He joined Saint Anthony Catholic Church (now Resurrection of Our Lord 
Catholic Church) shortly after moving to Savannah, Georgia.

Frank was employed by Savannah Sugar Refinery Incorporated (now Imperial Holly). 
Frank retired after 36 years of continuous service. He was a dependable and 
dedicated employee.

Frank was preceded in death by his loving parents; and two brothers, David and 
Wilfred Notto.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Brenda Shavers Notto; three 
sons, Fabian Notto (Stephanie) and Frank Notto III, both of Savannah; and Curtis 
Paul Chillis of Houston, TX; one daughter, Monique Harding (Bruce) of Arlington, 
TX; one brother, Larry Notto (Lessie) of Glencoe; a very devoted father-in-law, 
Dezzie A. Shavers Jr. of Savannah; aunt, Mary LeBlanc of New Orleans; two caring 
aunts, Elizabeth Milton (Joseph) and Savannah Bing of Jeanerette; two brothers-
in-law, Dezzie Alonzo Shavers III (Judy) of Franklin and Neal Sweats of Jackson, 
La.; three sisters-in-law, Frances Polidor of New Iberia; Karen Morton (Alan) of

brother, Charles Borne III and his wife, Marilyn, of Franklin; two sisters, 
Charlene Borne and Bridget Borne, both of Lafayette; and one niece, Savannah

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Borne, Jr.; and one sister, 
Rebecca Catherine Borne.

Mrs. Marie Romero Roy, 84, a resident of Centerville and native of Cow Island, 
passed away Monday, February 8, 2010, in the comfort of her home with her 
beloved cat, Princess, by her side.

Marie is survived by her son, Maxie Roy Jr. and his wife, Crystal Cooper Roy 
(her devoted daughter-in-law), of Centerville. "Maw Maw Marie" leaves behind 
three loving granddaughters, Bridget Roy of Centerville, Nadine Roy Porta and 
her husband, Chris, of Denham Springs, and Kailyn Roy of New Orleans. She also 
is survived by great-grandchildren, Kyle, Colby and Bryce Roy, and Alyssa and 
Connor Porta; and her sisters, Neola Hargrave, Annie Mae Simon, Lona Myers, 
Ouida Blanchard and Earline Liner.

Mrs. Roy was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Eugenie Romero; her 
husband, Joseph Maxie Roy; and brothers, Minos and Andrew Romero.

A time of remembrance will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 9 a.m. 
until 11 a.m. in the Hargrave Funeral Home Chapel in Morgan City, with funeral 
services beginning at 11 a.m.

Marie will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Centerville.

Peggy Ponvelle Stroud, 69, a native of Labadieville and long-time resident of 
Morgan City, died at Terrebonne General Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.

A time of remembrance and reflection will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 
9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Funeral 
services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial

Peterson Jr., who passed away suddenly on Feb. 6, 2010 after a short illness.

Louis was born on Jan. 30, 1924 in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High 
School. Following graduation he joined the Navy and married Wilma Jane Mach 
while stationed in San Diego, California. He continued to reside in California. 
He was a retired pharmacist and owner of two drug stores.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jane Mach Peterson; three daughters and their 
husbands; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Thomas 
Peterson and his wife, Gay of Arlington, Texas and James Peterson and his wife, 
Gloria, of Broussard; and four sisters, Edith Taylor and her husband, Robert, of 
Spring, Texas; Betty Peterson of Franklin; Marguerite Robinson and husband, 
Rodger, of Franklin; and Peggy Bodin and her husband, Lionel, of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Peterson Sr. and Catherine 
Anderson Peterson; one daughter, Sandra Peterson Ball; and two brothers, Robert

Madilyn D. Bancroft, a long time resident of Berwick, passed away Thursday, 
February 11, 2010 at Teche Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

She was devoted to her family, co-workers and friends. Her delight in cooking 
special dishes for her special people complimented her love of boating, fishing, 
hunting and shrimping with family. She was proud of her Cajun heritage and 
claimed it caused her to be "made of tough stuff." Madilyn liked Cajun music and 
dancing, quilting and sewing. As a nurse she was able to bring comfort to many. 
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Madilyn loved 
and touched the hearts of all the ones that came into her life.

Madilyn is survived by her husband, of 27 years, Douglas; three sons, Donald 
Berger and wife, Paula; Charles Berger Jr. and wife, Debbie; and Benjamin Berger 
and wife, Debbie; three daughters, Connie Giandelone and husband, Adam; Anna 
Rose Scott and husband, Kenneth Jr.; and Darla Rose Percle; three brothers, 
Everett Driskill and wife, Della; Tilton "Pee Wee" Driskill Jr. and wife, 
Jeanette; and Henry "Butch" Driskill and wife, Beverly; 20 grandchildren; 16 
great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews,

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tilton Driskill and Florence V. Robin;

A time of remembrance and reflection was held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 
concluding at 10 p.m., at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation 
resumed at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, and a service was held at the Hargrave 
Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. She was laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery.

Alzena was born February 11, 1946 to Albert and Dorothy Morse Hatcherson of 
Baldwin. She was educated in the St. Mary Parish public school system and went 
on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern University in Baton 
Rouge. Alzena was an educator for over 311Ú2 years with the St. Mary Parish 
School System. She served in different ministries in her church - the Senior 
Choir, Decorating Committee, Vacation Bible School teacher, and co-leader of 
Sisters of Hope. She also served on a community committee to help beautify the 
town of Baldwin.

Survivors include her husband, Charles of 40 years; daughter Lolanda Linnette 
(Edward) Brown of Jeanerette; a son, Eric Vaughn (Chandra) of Atlanta, GA; two 
sisters, Alice H. (James) Reed of Baldwin, Brenda H. Prejean of Lafayette; a 
brother, Rev. Moses James (Jeanette) Hatcherson of San Diego, CA; four 
grandchildren, Caleb, Dynasty, Treneice and Nyah; caring sisters and brothers-
in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful family and friends.

Mrs. Denby was born May 26, 1965, in Franklin and she died Thursday, February 
11, 2010 in a Lufkin hospital.

Funeral services for Desiree Gibson Denby, 44, of Huntington, Texas was held 
Sunday, February 14, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in 
Lufkin, with Father James Kalliath officiating. Interment followed in the 
Whitehouse Cemetery.

A rosary for Mrs. Denby was recited Saturday, February 13, at 7 p.m., in the 
Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Denby was a homemaker and a beloved wife of 24 years, mother, daughter and 
sister. She enjoyed gardening, working with stained glass, making quilts, 
cooking and baking. She especially loved being with her family and friends. Mrs. 
Denby was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church and had resided in 
Angelina County for the past 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Denby of Huntington; daughter, Ariana Denby 
of Huntington; son, Colby Denby of Huntington; mother and stepfather, Gail and 
James Simpson of Centerville; father and stepmother, Bobby Joe Sr. and Willa 
Gibson of Baldwin; sister, Kathy Latiolais of Franklin; brother, Bobby Joe 
Gibson Jr., of Lafayette; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other 
relatives and an abundance of close friends.

Mrs. Denby was preceded in death by her daughter, Marissa Denby.

Pallbearers were Don Wankan, Wesley Pace, Jason Bosley, Bo Burgess, Dean Mosley 
and Jimmy Due.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Latiolais and Jacob Mosley.

The family welcomed friends and loved ones from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday 
evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pallie lived in Glencoe since 1947 and was a native of Oklahoma, where she 
was born near Durant. She graduated from high school at Tishomingo, Oklahoma and 
was a college graduate of Southeastern Okalahoma State University in Durant, 
Oklahoma. She graduated with a B.S. degree in English and Business. She worked 
as an executive assistant for the president of Murray State College in 
Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Pallie is survived by two sons, Jame "Jim" Hood Terry of Glencoe and Wilson 
"Will" Clay Terry and his wife, Debra Gibson Terry, both of Glencoe; daughter-
in-law, Ruth Terry of Franklin; three granddaughters, Susan Terry Sconiers of 
New Iberia, Virginia Terry Reon of Broussard, and Melissa Terry Romero of 
Abbeville; three great grandsons and two great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Terry; her parents, John and Ada 
Hood; one brother, Dennis Hood; five sisters, Lucille Hood, Jonnie Bell Hood 
Ratcliff, Kathleen Hood Pullen, Mary Hood Gill, and Lois Hood; and one grandson, 
Patrick Clay Terry.

Joyce Belanger, 89, a resident of Morgan City, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at 
Cornerstone Village.

Mrs. Belanger was a florist for 50 years, and earned a reputation as a 
seamstress for creating Mardi Gras costumes for royalty. An active member of her 
church community, she often joked that she just missed being a saint by a day 
since her birthday, March 18, fell between St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's days.

She is survived by her sister, Myrle Williams of Slidell; daughters, Judith 
(Connelly) Vining of Patterson and Ellen (Tom) Grote of Lafayette; 
grandchildren, Valerie (John) Bering of Jeanerette, Brian Vining of Patterson, 
Darren Grote of Toluca Lake, Calif., and Christy Thorla of Prairieville; and one 
great-granddaughter, Camille Thorla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Dean and Inez Shaw; husband, Iven

Mrs. Daisy Jones Francis, 80, a resident and native of Franklin, died Wednesday, 
February 17, 2010, at 4:14 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a 
short illness.

She is survived by 10 sons, Harold Francis Sr. of Fremont, California, Raymond, 
Samuel, Gerald and Darrell Francis of Austin, Texas, Michael L. Francis of 
Franklin, Wallace, Willie and Herman Francis of Atlanta, Georgia and Harrison 
Francis Jr. of Farmington, New Mexico; four daughters, Helen Robertson of 
Houston, Texas, Carol Maze of Alexandria, Octavia Bogan of Houma and Louise F. 
Pierre of Baldwin; one sister, Ruby Walls of Franklin; 42 grandchildren; and 49 
great grandchildren.

Mrs. Francis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one sister 
and one brother.

Visitations will be observed Monday, February 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the 
Triumph Baptist Church in Franklin.

Burial rites will be read Monday, at 1 p.m., at that church, with the Rev. 
Clarence Stewart Sr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Franklin Garden 
Mausoleum.

LANDRUM, HUBERT WAYNE 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 2 p.m., at 
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sulphur, for Hubert Wayne Landrum, 84, who 
died on Thursday, February 18, 2010, in New Iberia.

Eric and Leslie Mansell will officiate.

Mr. Landrum was a native of Refugio, Texas and had lived in Sulphur, Louisiana 
from 1956 to 1972 when he moved to Franklin. He returned to Sulphur in 1997 and 
most recently to New Iberia. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in 
the United States Marine Corps aboard the carrier USS Essex. He retired from 
Quintana Petroleum after 42 years of service. Hubert enjoyed playing golf, 
watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Landrum was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sulphur. In 
keeping with his wishes, his body was donated to medical research.

Survivors include his four children, Linda Latiolais and husband, Ken, of 
Salado, TX; Dr. Steve Landrum and wife, Jodee, of New Iberia; Debi Lauret and 
husband, Robert, of Franklin; and Leigh Landrum of New Iberia; his four 
grandchildren, Brian Lauret, Jennifer L. Doiron, Steven Landrum Jr. and Eric 
Landrum; his two step grandchildren, Monty Latiolais and Cynthia Teran; and his 
seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carrie L. Landrum; and his 
sister, Dorothy O'Riley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster 
Presbyterian Church, 301 Center Circle, Sulphur, LA 70663 or to a charity of

Mary Catherine Asping Laughlin a native of DeGraff, Minn., and a longtime 
resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Teche Regional 
Medical Center surrounded by family.

A devoted Catholic, Mrs. Laughlin enjoyed sewing, gardening and attending her 
grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her sons, Earl Jr. (Susan) of Lafayette and Brian (Nancy) 
Laughlin of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Karen Laughlin of Morgan City, Monica 
(Bart) Mancuso) of Morgan City and Mary Jo (Gary) Beadle; 10 grandchildren; and 
nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Francis Laughlin Sr.; daughter, 
Helen Anne Laughlin; grandson, Thomas Beadle; parents, Herbert G. and Annabele 
Byrne Asping; and siblings, Margaret, Walter, LuVerne and Loretta.

The Laughlin family extends its thanks to Mrs. Laughlin's caregivers, Elma 
Pierce, Beth Fryou and Mary Faulk; and physicians, Drs. Robert Gamble, Francis 
H. Metz III, James Lam and Stephen Abshire.

She is buried at the Morgan City Mausoleum.

Valentine of Washington, D.C.; eight sisters, Lillie V. Lymon of Morgan City, 
Ella Knightshead, Freddie Mae Davis and Delma Trosclair of Houma, Alice Jones of 
St. Louis, Missouri, Elizabeth Montgomery of Chicago, Illinois, Eula Williams of

Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and five 
brothers.

Visitations will be observed Monday, Feb. 22, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Mount 
Zion Baptist Church in Morgan City.

Burial rites will be read Monday, at 2 p.m., at that church, with the Rev. Larry 
Frank officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian, a native of Lake Arthur and a longtime resident of Baldwin, was

teacher at Baldwin Elementary School for 36 years and was an active member of 
Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

She is survived by one grandson, James L. Savell and his wife, Melanie, of 
Lafayette; one granddaughter, Angela Savell-Romero of Lafayette; three great 
grandsons, Connor Romero, Seth Savell, and Miles Savell, all of Lafayette; one 
great granddaughter, Hannah Savell of Lafayette; two nephews; and three nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville O. 
Longman; one son, Richard Longman; one daughter, Constance Longman Savell; and 
three sisters, Sister Marguerite Elaine Gaithe, Marian Gaithe Perry, and Louise 
Gaithe Hooper.

Mr. Hebert, a native and lifelong resident of Baldwin, was the only son of the 
late Wilfred P. Hebert and Antonia Marie Navarro Hebert. He was a veteran of the 
United States Army Air Corps, having bravely served his country during World War 
II in the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theatres. Mr. Dean was also a lifetime 
member of the American Legion Post 63 in Franklin and the former owner and 
operator of Hebert Shells, Inc. in Baldwin for 47 years.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of 
Magnolia Estates Nursing Home, Camelot of Broussard, Lafayette General Hospital, 
Home Instead Senior Care, and Journey Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday, March 1, 2010 from 6 
p.m. to 9 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin. The mortuary will reopen for 
visitation on Tuesday, March 2nd from 9 a.m. until time of services.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd at 10 a.m. at 
Ibert's Mortuary with Father Greg Fratt officiating. Burial will follow in the 
Franklin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in Mrs. Ava's name 
to the: Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280 Washington, D.C. 20077-7491

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin, 
Louisiana, 70392.
