November 2, 1933 - April 2, 2010 Mr. Stephen E. Ayo, 76, a lifetime resident of Morgan City passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 in Baton Rouge. Stephen was a dreamer who loved life. He could function well when alone or was able to work well with others. An untrained machinist he learned on the job and was a valued employee. Stephen was a catholic by faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his brothers Dr. Thomas Ayo and his wife Alice of Prairieville, LA, Richard Ayo of Missouri and a sister Marguerite Wilson of Delta, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents Gaston and Bernice Ayo. Mr. James Arthur Depass, 53, a resident and native of Franklin, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at 9:31 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a short illness. He is survived by his mother, Audrey Andrew Depass of Franklin; three brothers, Don Depass and Victor Depass of Franklin and Herman Depass of Fort Worth, Texas; and one sister, Yvonne Depass Johnson of Franklin. Mr. Depass was preceded in death by his father, one sister and grandparents. Visitations will be observed Saturday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin. Many will remember Margaret in her chosen profession as a registered nurse here at Teche Regional Medical Center. She received her nursing degree late in life and immediately became a workaholic, putting in many hours of work and then studying many hours to make her more able to serve the sick of her community. She always accepted the opportunity to better her skills as she had many certifications in the medical field. She was a true example of what it meant to serve others. She enjoyed many things in life but most of all, the simple things were her favorite, such as a pretty yard in which she enjoyed working. Friendships were important to her as she had made plenty in her short sixty years. Most important to her was her family which revolved around her two grand children, Bridgette and Elijah Swan. Margaret is survived by a devoted and long time companion, Maxwell Crochet, a daughter, Alesha Swan, an extra special son in law, Wilbert Swan, two grandchildren, Bridgette and Elijah Swan, a brother, Larry Carpenter and his wife Donna of Slidell, a devoted sister, Evelyn C. Bergeron and her husband Larry of Morgan City. She is also survived by a person who devoted her time to Margaret by relocating to Morgan City to assist her in running her house and caring for her and her family, namely, a great person ,Cindy Crochet. Mildred was one of the founding members of the Sacred Heart Thrift Store and worked there until three years ago. Mildred was a member of the Catholic Daughters, she belonged to the Samaritans, the Thursday Ladies Group, the Bulletin Committee and numerous prayer groups. Mildred enjoyed crocheting, but her favorite activity was working in her garden. She was an avid gardener, with a very green thumb and was also a member of the African Violet Club. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Frances Stockdill and her husband Harry, one son Thomas E. Davis Jr. and his wife Betty, three brothers, Lawrence Vining and his wife Ruby, Julius Vining and Ruel Vining, one sister, Katherine Barras. Wilma enjoyed being involved with the Girl Scouts of America and continued managing the concession stand for Berwick Band Boosters for 17 years after her children left high school. She will also be remembered for her compassionate heart as a Pink Lady at the former Fairview Hospital in Bayou Vista. He was a lifetime resident of Four Mile Bayou, where he spent his time fishing and hunting. He enjoyed running his deer dogs and hunting alligators. Bee loved animals - his dog Jody, his hunting animals and any lost or injured animal that he could nurse back to health. Bee had a genuine appreciation for art and was skilled at working with wood. He took much pleasure in painting and drawing. Bee loved his family, and was happiest when he could share the ways of the bayou with his son and three grandchildren. Bee is survived by his son, Jason; three grandchildren, Hannah, Luke and Kate Bailey of Morgan City; his mother, Selma; his sister, Gail Aysenne of Four Mile Bayou; and niece, Lisa Aysenne of New Orleans. "Jerry" Byrne, Sr. passed away at his Morgan City home at 10:20 AM on Wednesday, April 07, 2010, after a valiant three year battle with lung cancer. He was the founder and owner of Byrne Rentals and Sales. He married his wife, Gloria Rapp, and together they raised her two younger brothers after the untimely death of her parents. Jerry was a larger-than-life character, who was always the life of the party. A boisterous, generous man with a huge heart, nothing was more important to him than his family. She belonged to the homemakers club, quilting bee and was extremely active in her two daughters, Cheryl and Jane's education and extra-curricular activities, especially FHA and 4-H clubs. Euline loved gardening, preserving her vegetables and fruits and sewing for her two girls and her grandchildren. Her devotion to her Catholic faith was continued throughout her life by her unselfish character ... she was so giving and loving to her family and neighbors. Moving back to her home place in Loreauville, she became active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, sewing Baptismal bibs, volunteering in numerous capacities for St. Joseph Catholic Church and visiting nursing homes weekly. She also belonged to the homemakers club, rosary group and the Council on Aging Tour Group. She loved to travel throughout the USA. In her latest years, she was active in the Council on Aging Respite Program for Alzheimer's. This program was a "God-Send," she was able to continue her life through this terrific program with dignity and courage by a terrific group of people who showed her love, tenderness, compassion and care. Words cannot express enough gratitude for the Iberia Council Aging Adult Daycare, especially Ms. Betty, Ms. Sal and Connie and Cynthia. Hazel was a excellent cook with her specialties being gumbos. She enjoyed working in her yard keeping it clean. Music, especially French music, and dancing were one of her favorite pastimes. She loved listening to a good joke and could tell one herself at the family gatherings that she loved so much. Her favorite ball club was the Atlanta Braves as she spent many hours watching them. Hard work never bothered her as she picked cotton and potatoes as a young lady. Hazel was very respectful of others rights, and she instilled this respect in her children. She was a person that never met a stranger, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a Catholic by faith.
