SMITH, CAROLYN MAE 
Oct. 29, 1949 ~ May 11, 2010

Carolyn Mae Smith, 60, of La Porte, died on May 11, 2010 at MD Anderson Cancer 
Center in Houston. She was born October 29, 1949 in Snyder, Texas to Paul and 
Margaret Tanner.

Carolyn was an off-shore cook for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her 
family and traveling the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Pepper; a grandson; and 
two sisters.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Jennifer Louviere and husband, Guy; Joseph 
Brister and wife, Cheryl; Melissa Rineholt and husband, Chris; Jimmy Pepper and 
wife, Mary; Bryan Smith and wife, Carrie; Leslie Pepper; Anthony Pepper and 
wife, Kim; and Travis Smith and wife, Nichole; a sister, three brothers, 23 
grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

The family received visitors on Friday, May 14, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Carnes 
Funeral Home in Texas City. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. at the funeral 
home. Burial followed at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
