Scott Crosby officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home in Abbeville today, Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 3 p.m. until the time of the services on Friday, May 14, 2010. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. A native of Pecan Island and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Romero died at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at a Lafayette hospital. She had retired from the Vermilion Parish School Board as a cook after more than 10 years of service. She also worked for more than 15 years at Richards Meat Market. She was inducted into the Living Hall of Fame for the Louisiana Cattle Festival Fairs and Association, of which she was a member. Mrs. Titter was known for her enjoyment of playing bingo, Booray and Pokeno. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Romero and his wife, Charlene, of Abbeville and Wayne Romero and his wife, Mary, of Stephensville; four daughters, Jean Bourque and her husband, Joseph "Black," of Coteau, Mabel Toups and her husband, Larry Sr., of Stephensville, Darlene Guillory and her husband, Steve, of Abbeville, and Marlene Frederick and her husband, Earl Jr. "Bubba," of Milton; two brothers, Rufus Vaughan of Abbeville and Wilfred Vaughan of Abbeville; five sisters, Melva Dummit and her husband, Ken, of Spring, Texas, Adelina Sharpton and her husband, Jerry, of Beaumont, Texas, Velta Lee Baxely of Plano, Texas, Annie Belle Richard and her husband, Otis, of Abbeville, and Alma Minzenmayer and her husband, Hiram "Bud," of Abbeville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ophe Romero Sr.; her parents, Claude and Eva Hardin Vaughan; a son, Ophe Romero Jr.; a daughter, JoAnn Guidry; and a sister, Alberta Lou Vaughan. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Wayne Romero, Larry Toups Jr., Patrick Joseph Frederick, Todd Michael Frederick, Roderick Paul Guidry and Blake Romero. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ty Frederick, Leonard Toups, Lance Toups, Ricky Guidry, Wendell Bourque, and Travis Romero.
