CHESTIN 'CHET' JOSEPH Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., June 4, 2010 at a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at David Funeral Home of Erath, with recitation of rosary at 6 p.m. Entombment will take place in the church cemetery in Erath. Dr. Chestin "Chet" Joseph Boudreaux, 89, who passed away June 1, 2010 at Abbeville Hospital, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands. Following his discharge, he worked in the oil industry for Continental Oil Co., Barnsdall Oil Co. and Sohio Petroleum Co. While employed with Sohio Petroleum Co. in Casper, Wyoming, he attended Casper College, then Southern College of Optometry in Memphis where he obtained his doctor of optometry and bachelor of science degree in 1963. Following graduation, he opened his practice in Franklin, where he practiced for 40 years. He retired in 1999 and moved back to Erath. Dr. Boudreaux was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and the American Legion of Erath. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Stella Landry Boudreaux; a son, Chestin J. Boudreaux Jr. of Port Allen; a daughter, Diane B. Cox of Valdosta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Stephanie Cox Coop and husband, Robert, of Valdosta; Jason N. Cox, MD of Adel, Georgia; Lauri B. Louviere and husband, Dwayne, of Jeanerette; Kristy Boudreaux of Broussard; and Michelle B. Gosserand and husband, Kurt, of Denham Springs; nine great grandchildren, Ivy Coop, Beatrice Coop, Lanie White, Luke Louviere, Olivia Cox, Will Cox, Catie Cox, Jackson Cox and Chloe Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Belonie Boudreaux and Anite Dronet Boudreaux; an infant daughter, Rosalind Ann; and a brother, Calvin C. Boudreaux. Dr. Chet was a compassionate and loving husband, father and friend. His family and friends will long remember him for his keen intellect, strong work ethic, dry wit and generosity. Nathan Granger, Calvin Boudreaux Jr., Brent Perrin, David Schexnayder, Seth Duhon and Dane Thibodeaux will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Luke Louviere and Will Cox.
