August 18, 1949~ June 17, 2010 Roger Dale Kennedy Sr., 60, of Dayton, was born in Ville Platte to Josie Olivia (Hebert) and James Taylor Kennedy on August 18, 1949. He died at his home unexpectedly on Thursday, June 17, 2010. Roger was a man who loved to hunt and fish. If he couldn't be outdoors hunting or fishing he would watch television programs related to either of those two topics, or cooking shows. Besides Cajun food, he really enjoyed listening to Cajun music. He was enthralled with guns, but especially rifles. Before his health caused him to have to retire, Roger was an industrial construction worker for Brown and Root for 40 years. "Papa Roger" would melt when granddaughter, Aubrey was in his sights. He will be missed by the neighbors, especially the family of Gary and Doris Arnold who were like family to him, and all others who loved him. Preceding him in death were his parents, J. T. and Josie Kennedy; son, Roger Dale Kennedy Jr.; and brother, Herman Kennedy. Left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, James Kennedy and wife, Wendy, of Garyville, Louisiana and Brad Kennedy and wife, Samantha, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Aubrey Kennedy of McKinney, Texas, Mitchell, Daniel and Ashley Lemoine, all of Luling; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cole Lemoine, also of Luling; sisters, Betty Diamond and husband, Harold, of Lafayette and Janet Thibodeaux and husband, Johnny, of Searcy, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
