Karl is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Jeannine Peterson of Patterson; his two nephews, Kirk Peterson of Patterson and Kevin Peterson of Stuart, Fla.; and two nieces, Kim Peterson and Karla Peterson, both of Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl C. Peterson and Edith Peterson. Karl was an artist and very much admired by his colleagues and sought-after for his beautiful backdrops for the carnival season. He enjoyed traveling and collecting cultural artifacts. He will most be remembered for his beautiful paintings and unusual collections of African art. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 302 Greenwood St. in Morgan City. The Rev. Rob Courtney will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church in his memory. He very much loved his church and its history. ===================
