He was 85 and a retired master carpenter and homebuilder. He was born in Yonkers, N. Y., and grew up in Brooklyn, N. Y. At an early age, he joined the 4th Marine Division and fought in most of their battles in World War II. When he was 20, he had three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star with a V for valor, a Presidential Unit Citation with a Bronze Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars. He married Teresa Ryan in 1950 in New York and had a son, Harry Brian, who became Harry Brian Foster after his parents'divorce. He married Katherine Morgenstern in 1959, and they lived in Morgan City for many years. He leaves behind two grandchildren in Maryland; a niece, Mary Cavenaugh, in Tampa, Fla.; a nephew, Allen Cavenaugh in Florida; and a brother, Michael Cavenaugh, in California. Services will be private. ===================
