"STU" October 22, 1922 - July 12, 2010 Stewart W. "Stu" Daigle, 87, a former resident of Morgan City, died Monday. Mr. "Stu" Daigle was born and raised in Patterson, graduated from Austin High School in Houston and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for two years until he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He served his country with pride and honor. When he returned to Morgan City, he worked for Shell Oil Co. for 23 years, achieving the position of general superintendent. Upon his retirement from Shell Oil, he worked for Offshore Logistics as vice president, opening their Singapore operation. He returned to the states after 10 years of service to Offshore Logistics and worked for Briley Marine for five years until his retirement. Mr. Daigle is survived by his son, Mark Daigle of Morgan City. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Genevieve "Bea" Daigle; and a daughter, Kathleen Daigle. He was a very active member of the community. He served on the boards of numerous petroleum industry associations as well as community organizations. He was instrumental in planning and building the Petroleum Club of Morgan City, he was a founding member, served on the board of directors as well as president of the organization. Mr. Daigle was one of the few remaining charter board members; his club membership number, when issued, was No. 1. Mr. Daigle was also an officer and served on the boards of the following organizations: -Morgan City Chamber of Commerce (board member and president); -Atchafalaya Chapter API (board member and president); -Pioneers of Offshore Exploration (incorporator and board member); -In addition, he was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Daigle donated his body to science. A memorial Mass will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, 4080 West Airline Highway, Reserve, LA 70084. ===================
