Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Regina H. Girouard, age 87, who passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. O. Joseph Breaux, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services. Survivors include three sons, Michael Girouard of Maurice, Carl Girouard and his wife, Charlene, of Morgan City and Mark Girouard and Angel Aucoin of Morgan City; one daughter, Charlotte Douglas and her husband, John, of Maurice; five grandchildren, Shawn Girouard, Dezerai Girouard, Jontel Bourg, Joseph Girouard and Cory Girouard; three great-grandchildren, Devin Girouard, Tyson Girouard and Wyatt Girouard; three brothers, Albert Hebert of Lafayette, Nolton Hebert of New Iberia and Lawrence Hebert of Maurice; and two sisters, Emedia Vincent of Abbeville and Mildred Trahan of Maurice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earless Girouard, a native of Broussard; and her parents, Jeneus Hebert and the former Editha Broussard, both natives of Maurice; two brothers, Edlar Hebert and Joseph Nole Hebert; and three grandchildren, Felicia Girouard, Jennifer Myers and Joshua Girouard. Born on November 29, 1922, Mrs. Girouard was a native and lifelong resident of Maurice. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to everyone. Mrs. Girouard was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and served as a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Pallbearers were Cory Girouard, Joseph Girouard, Terry Trahan, Richard Hebert, Rayward Vincent and Larry Hebert. A Rosary was prayed Friday, July 2, 2010, at 7 p.m. in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
