Nini, Sr., age 88, a native and resident of Berwick passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010. Lee served his country during World War II as Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was stationed in Houston, Texas on a U.S. Guard Fire Boat. The war ended just before he was to be shipped out to the Pacific Theater from Alameda, California. Lee was employed by Mobil Oil Company in November 1947 and retired in 1981 with a total of 34 years. Lee had always been an avid hunter and fisherman so this became his special interest upon retirement. Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Gloria Chauvin Nini; his beloved son, Lee A. Nini, Jr. and his wife, Gretchen Winters Nini; one grandson, Carl L. Nini and his wife, Ann; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley N. Wilson (Nicholas), Jace and Cory Nini. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Nini; three brothers, Ivy, Hank, and Raymond Nini; and two sisters, Rita Rosson and Elvina (Sis) Russo. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at St. Stephens Church Hall. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 PM as St. Stephens Church. He will be laid to rest in the Berwick Memorial Cemetery-Garden Crypt. He will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
