Gregory Gabriel officiating. Interment will be in the Sorrell Community Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the church until time of service. A native and lifelong resident of the Sorrell community, she died Monday Aug. 2, 2010 at her residence following a brief illness. She was a Baptist by faith and attended church whenever possible due to her health status. She was a good neighbor and friend to all who knew her. Virginia is survived by her mother, Viola Rudolph of Baldwin; four sons, George Gabriel Jr. of Port Arthur TX, James Gabriel of Sorrell, McKinley Gabriel of Lafayette and the Rev. Gregory Gabriel of New Iberia; two daughters, Pamela Conley of Charenton and Emma Gabriel of Sorrell; four brothers, Jake and Randy Rudolph of Baldwin, Albert Rudolph of Rochester, N.Y. and Giles Rudolph III of San Antonio TX; nine sisters, Lavonia Jenkins, Mercede Watts, Betty Leonard, Bernadine Colar, all of Baldwin, Sarah Douglas of Lone Star, TX, Alberta Madison and Elsie Jones of Franklin, Emma Jean Conley of Tacoma, WA and Hattie Mae Richards of Kaplan; 19 Grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Giles Rudolph; husband, George Gabriel Sr.; daughter, Viola Gabriel; granddaughter, Precious Gabriel; two brothers, Robert and Donald Rudolph; niece, Barbara Jenkins; and nephew, John Jenkins.
