She passed her final moments surrounded by her family and friends. She was 74 years old. Born February 22, 1936, in Mamou, Lois, as she preferred to be called, married James "J. D." Guidry in 1951. Lois lived a life full of love and happiness as a Christian, a wife, a mother of five, grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 24. She served the Lord at New Life Tabernacle in Morgan City. Her favorite pastimes were reading, collecting cookbooks, eating Chinese food and cooking for her family. No one could cook a roast or make a gumbo the way she could. But her true talent was candy making. Lois loved making candy for family gatherings, especially the Christmas open house, and shared it with friends, family and anyone who could use a treat. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 59 years, James Guidry Sr.; five children, James and Annette Guidry of Mamou, Ricky and Joanie Guidry of Morgan City, Pat and Greg Boyles of Patterson, Gary and Phyllis Guidry of Verdunville, and Jennifer and Kirk Mayon of Denham Springs; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today, Monday, August 23, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for family and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for family and friends at New Life Tabernacle, 811 Roderick St. in Morgan City. Visitation will continue Tuesday, August 24, 2010, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service, also at New Life Tabernacle. She will be laid to rest after the memorial service at Ibert's Memorial Park in Patterson. Hargrave Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. ===================
