Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2010/sm1008.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Mr. Lawrence Marks, 78, a native of Arnaudville, Louisiana and a resident of Bayou Vista, Louisiana passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma. Lawrence was a Marine and a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he earned a purple heart in the service of his country. A member of the VFW and American Legion and was a volunteer driver of the VA bus for many years for which his service was acknowledged with a plaque on two occasions. He enjoyed riding his bike and could often be seen in the neighborhood on his early rounds, he was a voracious reader, enjoyed grilling for family and friends, going to his camp and attending all weddings to which he was invited. He had a friend everywhere he went. Mr. Marks is survived by his wife Rita Hollier Marks of 54 years; one daughter Peggy Marks Dinger and her husband Jody Dinger, Sr. of Berwick; three sons: Randal Marks and his wife Heidi Nini Marks of Patterson; Dean Marks, Sr. of Patterson and Lawrence David Marks of Houma. Six grandchildren: Kristi Marks Pinho, Erica Marks Oncale, Dean Marks, Jr., Jody Dinger, Jr., Joshua Marks, and Gaige Marks and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Emery Marks and his sister Mina Marks of Arnaudville, Louisiana. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents Onezime and Jeanne Olivier Marks, three sisters Maude Champagne, Mildred Ritchie, Dora Marks and a brother Onezime Marks Jr. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 10:00 am until dismissal at 1:30 pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. A Mass will be conducted at 2:00 pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. Lawrence will be laid to rest in The Morgan City Cemetery. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will conduct graveside services. Lawrence's family asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the DAV. ===================
