Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2010/sm1008.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Jerome St. Marie, 89, a long time resident of Amelia passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Jerome worked for his father, all the time previous to the time of enlistment, on 500 acre sugar cane farm. Assisted in preparing ground, cultivation, and harvesting of cane; he took care of livestock on place. Jerome was an Army veteran of WWII, enjoyed hunting and fishing on his time away from his job for 35 years as Bridge Tender for the railroad; also in his spare time he was a carpenter by trade. He was the father of five, one son and four daughters and he enjoyed being with them. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Celine Bergeron St. Marie, a son Oran Thomas St. Marie and his wife Leona of Donner, his daughters Dianne Griffin of Morgan City, Linda S. Girouard and her husband Hershel of Youngsville, Margaret Sargee and her husband Claude of Milton and Kathy Schexnider of Stephensville, and fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 27 at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City, continuing Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Amelia. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will conduct full military honors at graveside. Jerome will be laid to rest in the St. Andrews Cemetery. ===================
