Betty, a Rayne native, and a long time resident of Centerville, graduated from Louisiana College with a B.S. in Nursing and from Nicholls State University with a B.S. in Education. She retired from teaching in the St. Mary Parish School System in 1986. Betty continued her service to others as a church organist for the last 52 years and as an expert horticulturist and gardener alongside her husband, providing plants, fruits, and vegetables to countless others. Betty is survived by her husband, Thomas Derveloy, daughter Jan Smith and companion Jimmy Shuflin all of Centerville, son Guy Peltier and his wife Connie, of Spring, Texas. In addition, she loved her four stepchildren, Tommy Derveloy of Lafayette, Julie (Jimmy) Dauzat of Sunset, Jean (Bob) Cobb of Lafayette, and Linda (Laj) Carroll of Broussard. She was blessed to have 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Guy Peltier Sr., parents Louis (Dutch) and Bertha Couvillion, as well as her infant baby sister. Visitation will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 6pm to 9pm, with visitation resuming on Saturday, September 25th at 9am until time of funeral services at the First Baptist Church of Franklin. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 25th at 11am at the First Baptist Church of Franklin with Pastor DorŽ Langley officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville. The family of Mrs. Derveloy would like to express their sincere thanks to Doctors Cuatro and Renaldi, Iberia Medical Center, and especially to all of the gracious care givers who provided such comfort to Betty during her last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baptist Children's Home, American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Acadiana. ===================
