Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2010/sm1010.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Mr. Kennedy J. Dugas, Sr., 87, a native of New Iberia and a longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, at his home. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Father Thomas Vu, of St. Jules Catholic Church will officiate the services. Mr. Dugas was a veteran of the United States Navy, with the rank of 1st Lt., having served as a fighter pilot during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After returning to the states he met his future bride, Doris Joseph, while attending SLI. They married in 1947 and he began work as a Mechanical Engineer with Texaco. They later settled in Franklin and opened the Billmar Restaurant, which they ran for 45 years. Survivors include one son, Kennedy J. Dugas, Jr. and his wife, Lydia, of Lafayette; four daughters, Marcia Katherine Shelton and her husband, James, of Lafayette, Barbara Ann Rivet and her husband, Charles, of Mandeville, Elizabeth Adele Beadle and her husband, Brian, of Lafayette, and Mary Marguerite Lee and her husband, James Jr., of Mandeville; and six grandchildren, Lacey Shelton, Erin Shelton, Michelle Dugas, Daniel Beadle, Ashley Beadle, and James Joseph Lee III. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Joseph Dugas; an infant daughter, Tonya Marie Dugas; his parents, Rebert Dugas and Adele Junca Dugas; and one sister, Gloria Dugas Bonin. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 5, at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again Wednesday, October 6, from 10:00 AM until dismissal at 1:30 PM.
